HOSPICE CAREER FAQ FOR POTENTIAL TEAM MEMBERS

What health benefits does Hospice offer?2024-08-21T07:33:39+00:00

Hospice offers a full range of competitive health benefits for employees and their families. Two types of medical plans are available through Priority Health: An Health Savings Account (HSA) and an Health Reimbursement Account (HRA). Dental coverage is through Delta Dental and vision care is provided by AlwaysCare. In addition to these plans, Hospice offers life insurance, and short and long term disability coverage through MetLife. Employees are eligible on the first of the month following their first 30-days.

Is there a 401k Plan?2024-08-21T07:34:04+00:00

Yes, Hospice has a plan through Macatawa Bank. Employees are automatically enrolled at a 2% contribution rate on the first of the month following their first 90-days unless they opt out. Hospice does offer a match.

Will I receive training?2024-08-21T07:34:26+00:00

The exact training plan varies based on position, but generally, all new staff go through an initial orientation that lasts about a day. Clinical staff then begin a 90-day structured training/orientation program where they are paired off, mentored and tracked. Non-clinical staff are trained according to the developed job description by their supervisor. All clinical staff must also be credentialed by our referral sources and facilities that require it.

Is additional training provided?2024-08-21T07:34:47+00:00

Yes, various training is provided throughout the year. Employees also have continuing education funds (CEU funds) to use for their own individualized needs as they request it.

What about time off?2024-08-21T07:35:11+00:00

Hospice offers Earned Time Off (ETO), which is used for all time off work including vacation, appointments, medical leave, illnesses, etc. Employees accrue it from day-one based on hours they work and can use it after their first 90-days. ETO is not capped, meaning it continues to accrue and is not a “use it or lose it” benefit. Adjustments to the accrual rate are made after certain milestones – e.g., after five years of employment.

Is there overtime?2024-08-21T07:35:30+00:00

Hospice tries to limit overtime if possible, but patient needs or projects dictate the hours needed. Overtime is paid after 40 hours in a workweek. There is occasional overtime for clinical staff, but they often flex their hours to offset.

Are there paid holidays?2024-08-21T07:35:47+00:00

There are six paid holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Staff required to be on-call for a holiday are paid time and a half for any hours actually worked on the holiday in addition to their holiday pay.

Is mileage provided?2024-08-21T07:36:07+00:00

Clinical staff receive mileage for mileage related to patient care visits. Other mileage is paid according to the applicable law. Clinical staff and leadership also receive a monthly cell phone reimbursement.

What are the hours and is there any flexibility?2024-08-21T07:36:31+00:00

The exact hours vary by position, but generally speaking, administrative staff work Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. The workweek for most clinical staff is Monday through Friday from 8am until 4pm with some flex based on patient visits, adjustments for on-call requirements and to balance out hours. Weekend and evening staff have different hours. On-call hours/shifts are worked as the need arises.
