2018: A Year Of Helping And Healing

  • April 2, 2018 we celebrated our 37th Anniversary
  • We reached more people than ever throughout 2018 and set new record highs January-August with September-December being the 2nd highest census months
  • Also in April, Claire Vogelzang was named Hospice of Holland Volunteer of the Year. Claire contributed 195 hours in 2018
  • The Hospice of Holland team of volunteers contributed 2,683.53 hours of their time and talent to bring care and comfort those we served
  • May 17, 2018 the organization held another successful Celebration Gala event filling the room at Baker Lofts in Holland with its 1920’s Speakeasy theme and many long-time community friends of the organization
  • May 21, 2018 the organization welcomed Kelly Howard, DNP, as a third Nurse Practitioner caring for both Hospice and Keystone Medical Services patients
  • In July 2018, the organization upgraded the 3CX VOIP phone system and installed all new desk phones and 3 computerized receptionist transfer stations that allow for a “click and drag” phone transfer process
  • August 18, 2018 we held the 12th Annual Vanderleek Cup Hospice Regatta sponsored by National Bulk Equipment.
  • The organization ended the year with 863 hospice referrals, and 722 hospice admissions for a record high average daily census of 134 patients
  • Our Social Workers invested more than 2856 hours helping patients come to terms with their mortality, offering support during challenging days and nights and assisting the entire patient and family unit as they travel through their hospice experience.
  • Hospice of Holland Bereavement Counselors provided bereavement services to 604 families, 14 children. Of those, 209 received direct bereavement support due to the loss of a loved one under the care of Hospice of Holland.
  • Bereavement Counselors delivered grief counseling to 51 community members in need of grief support as part of the charity bereavement services Hospice of Holland delivers to the community.
  • November, 2018, the organization committed to an internal customer service initiative that will be span through 2020 and beyond. This initiative will focus on ensuring Hospice of Holland and Keystone Medical Services patients receive the best care possible from us.
  • Keystone Medical Services saw a record high 801 new patients compared to a goal of 528
  • As of December 31, 2018, the organization has provided hospice services to 13,302 patients since January 1982.
  • We continue to provide many hours of free community education through support groups and seminars to residents and professional caregivers in Ottawa, Allegan, Kent, Van Buren and Muskegon Counties
