Blue Mile 500 is a collaboration giving and adventure, as a memorial to Diane Hamming. It is the giving back to Hospice House of Holland for the care that was provided; it is the adventure of a story moving forward.
Diane lived a life of giving without recompense, a life of quiet courage even at the end. She believed in eminent grace and demanded nothing more. She loved the blue bird. Its return each spring became a talisman. A reminder to keep pursuing life, keep living the grace that was bestowed.
One of her last gifts to her children (by birth and by law) was the directive to discover their own blue bird and pursue it. Blue Mile 500 is a blue bird dream. Blue Mile is the continuing story of a woman who stayed grounded so others could fly.
Keith and Darcy Payne will be hiking the Colorado Trail, 500 mountainous miles from Denver to Durango. They hope the hiking will free their thinking and renew their wonder. They hope to deal with the loss of a mother and friend, searching the wisdom of what she believed; what she had lived.
Enjoy the adventure. Please give.
